A COUPLE who met at school have just celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
James and Dorothy Mutch met when they were both pupils at Consett Grammar School and have now been married for 60 years.
Both born and bred in Consett, Mr Mutch, 82, travelled the world as a chief electrician in the merchant navy, before a career in teaching at Brandon Secondary School and Newcastle College.

Mrs Mutch, 81, devoted her life to being a nurse ward sister at Shotley Bridge Hospital and spent many years of her career as a district nurse working in the Consett area.
The couple spend much of their time seeing close friends and family – having four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
They celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary at Redwell Hills Nursing Home, where Mr Mutch now lives, and marked the occasion with a visit from Durham County Council Chairman Coun Pauline Charlton.
Mrs Mutch said: "We’ve had a full and happy life and never regretted a single day."
