FIREFIGHTERS will go on strike again tomorrow morning (Friday, January 3).
The industrial action by members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) is scheduled to last from 6.30am to 8.30am.
The planned walk-out is part of an ongoing national dispute over pensions.
The FBU says Government changes will see older firefighters lose out, while ministers say the reforms are fair for firefighters and the taxpayer.
The stoppage will be the ninth since September.
When FBU members stopped work for six hours on New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service responded to nine incidents, including a car crash on the A19, a car fire in Consett and rubbish fires in Darlington and Chester-le-Street.
Members of the public are advised to take extra care during the strike period.
