The Northern Echo: Simon Hodgson-Greaves Simon Hodgson-Greaves

POLICE are trying to find a man reported missing after his empty camper van was discovered near cliffs on the North Yorkshire coast.

Simon Hodgson-Greaves, 47, from Riccall, near York, has not been seen by his family since Sunday, December 15. A member of the public contacted police on Saturday (December 21) after becoming concerned Mr Hodgson-Greaves’ vehicle had been parked at the RSPB visitor centre overnight at Bempton Cliffs, Bridlington, but he was nowhere to be seen.

He is known to go on frequent camping trips and likes to go walking.

However, police are now very concerned for his safety after finding his unoccupied vehicle and due to the lack of contact with his family. Officers are also exploring the possibility that Mr Hodgson-Greaves has gone walking in the area and may have got into difficulties.

Police are appealing to members of the public who believe they have seen him since Friday, December 20 to contact them as a matter of urgency.

He is described as white, around 6ft tall and of slim build. He has sandy coloured hair, a greying beard and moustache, blue eyes and wears spectacles.

It is not known what he will be wearing, however, he is known to dress very smartly and often wears tweed jackets, shirts and scarves.

If you believe you have seen Simon or know where he is now, call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room.
