Darlington supermarket launches Christmas appeal to help local causes

A DARLINGTON supermarket has launched a Christmas appeal to support three local charities.
The Asda store in Whinbush Way has launched the Give a Gift at Christmas on the themes kids, warmth and food poverty.
Customers in store will be asked to support three charities – the Salvation Army Darlington Toy Appeal, the Salvation Army Clothes Collection and the food bank at King’s Church – by dropping a token at the Community Life notice board or by buying an extra gift fitting one of the themes and leaving it in store.
Store manager Steve White said: “Christmas is one of our busiest times of year but the generosity of our colleagues and customers never ceases to amaze me.
“The nominated charities are all doing great work in our community and I hope we can raise not just funds for them, but donate gifts that will help make someone else’s Christmas that little bit better.”
