POLICE are continuing to appeal for information about a fatal collision.
At 4.08am on Saturday, November 30, cyclist David Robert James, 35, of Deckham, collided with a double decker bus in Shipcote Lane, Gateshead.
After reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries, officers now believe that Mr James cycled out from a junction into the path of the bus.
He was taken to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary, but died of his injuries.
Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who was on the roads in the Shipcote Lane or Cambourne Place areas around 3.30am on Saturday morning and who saw anything to contact them with any information on 101, extension 69191.
Motor Patrols Sgt Steve Minnikin said: "After checking CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses it appears that Mr James rode out into the main road and in front of the bus from behind a junction.
“ A report has been prepared for the coroner into his death and I would still like to appeal for anyone who was in the area and who saw anything to contact us with any information."
