A GLAMOROUS horseracing event has raised more than £15,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The Roflow Ladies Evening took place at Sedgefield Racecourse in County Durham in August and combined the all the thrills of the races, with first class entertainment and a best-dressed competition.
Champion jockey Tony McCoy showed his support for the event when he visited guests in the sold out hospitality.
Meanwhile, Grand National winner Ryan Mania, who was airlifted by GNAAS earlier this year, encouraged people to dig deep before an auction that raised more than £10,500.
One lucky bidder won a Grand National race card signed by Mania and all of last year’s Grand National competitors.
Last week, the money was presented to Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at the GNAAS.
She said: “The event, once again, was a huge success and the amount raised will go towards keeping our air ambulances flying.”
Tom Robson, of Roflow Environmental Engineering, which sponsored the event, said: “The evening has become a highlight of the region's social calendar and once again the amount raised is a credit to everyone who attended.”
The fifth Roflow Ladies Evening will take place on Tuesday, August 26, next year.
