A CHARITY Zumba event held outside a Catterick Garrison Tesco supermarket in August has raised £1,676 for Cancer Research UK and Meningitis Research Foundation.

Lindsay Capstick, who organised the event with friend and Zumba instructor Emma Blackmore from Zumba Catterick said: “This is a great result. It was a lovely day and the atmosphere was amazing.”

She said Cancer Research was a charity close to many of the hearts of those who took part in the event, and one participant Sue Fishburn is an ambassador for Meningitis Research Foundation after her son contracted the illness as a child but recovered.

She added: “It was nice for her to be able to help raise money and give something back to the charity.

“A big thank you to all the ladies and one gent who took part in this event and helped to raise money, and to Shirley Hayes from Tesco who helped to organise the day and supplied us with chilled water.”
