GLASS CONFERENCE: More than 100 delegates from the Contemporary Glass Society will attend their annual conference at the National Glass Centre, in Sunderland, this weekend.
Julia Stephenson, head of arts for National Glass Centre, said "The conference reinforces Sunderland’s reputation as a city with international influence on the history and continued legacy of glass making."
LANDMARK PLAN: A plan to create a supermarket along with 47 homes for the elderly on the site of a famous Tyneside landmark have been given the go-ahead. Gateshead Council has granted planning permission for the multi-million pound development on the site of the former Dunston Rocket tower block.
