A TEAM of call centre workers are on top of the world after conquering Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

Caroline Fisher, Christopher Harrison and Noz Islam from npower’s office in Rainton, near Durham City, and Patrick Dinsmore from the Peterlee office were part of a 15-strong team who raised £200,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

After a seven-day trek to the mountain, the held what is thought to be one of the highest coffee mornings, 5,895 metres above sea level, at the summit of the highest peak in Africa.

Noz Islam said: "It was an amazing experience to stand on the summit of Kilimanjaro at practically the same time as colleagues in North East were celebrating their own coffee morning.

"We decided to commemorate the event with a coffee break of our own."

"But getting there wasn’t easy; it was probably the biggest challenge of my life! It was a super-human effort to hit the top.

"I am so proud of what we have achieved - a truly once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget."
