LIVE MUSIC: Darlington SING Community Choir will be joined by four other choirs from the region in a Voices for Hospices event at Carmel College on Saturday (October 12). The event is also open to individual singers who may wish to join workshops of new songs arranged by choirmasters Andrew and Bridie Jackson, followed by an early evening celebratory concert. This event is part of an international day celebrating singing and raising funds for the hospice movement. SING has nominated St Teresa's Hospice as its supported hospice. Other hospices are to receive shares of funds raised as nominated by the other choirs. The event commences at 11.30 am. TAKEAWAY FINED: Mohammed Sadek, of M&I Fried Chicken, in Gladstone Street, Darlington, was fined £350 after Darlington Magistrates’ Court heard evidence of rodent infestation in food preparation areas and poor hygiene. Enforcement officers from Darlington Borough Council visited the premises in June and the case came to court earlier this week. Mr Sadek, who admitted the charges, was also ordered to pay £400 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
