A MAN has appeared in court charged with aggravated burglary following a large-scale disturbance in which a number of armed men attacked a house in Guisborough.

Simon John Thirlwall did not enter a plea when he appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday) and he was released on conditional bail until he appears at Teesside Crown Court on October 24.

The 23-year-old, of Allison Street, Guisborough, is accused of entering a house on Warwick Road in the town and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm with a weapon.

Mr Thirlwall has to reside at an address on Mansfield Raod, Eston, near Middlesbrough, not to enter Guisborough and observe a curfew between 7pm and 7am every day.

Police were called at about 8pm on Monday night after reports that two car-loads of men had smashed up the house and thtreatened the occupants.
