A NORTH-EAST pharmacy has recently been accredited as one of the first Healthy Living Pharmacies in the area.
As a Healthy Living Pharmacy, Bewick Pharmacy in Newton Aycliffe offers expert advice on stopping smoking with a stop smoking adviser in store who is on hand to help with a 12 week support programme.
The initiative, introduced by Durham County Council and Darlington Borough Council, recognises the high quality services and advice offered within the pharmacy.
In the last year campaigns were run in the store on topics such as mental health, cancer awareness and alcohol awareness.
They also offer free NHS Check4Life health checks that can help assess the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, type two diabetes or kidney disease.
The 30 minute check involve height, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol measurements and some questions about health, diet, exercise and family history. To book a free NHS health check contact them on 01325 321010.
