A CHARITY that supports sick and injured service personnel and veterans has today launched a mobile and tablet app to raise money for its work.
Help for Heroes hopes its Hero Bear game app will break the record for the fastest downloaded charity game to help raise money for the charity, which opened the Phoenix House Recovery Centre last month.
The app has videos featuring patrons of the charity Jeremy Clarkson and Lorraine Kelly, with Mr Clarkson giving scathing put-downs to players with low scores while Ms Kelly offers positive encouragement to help spur them on.
As fans of the charity, both Ms Kelly and Mr Clarkson thank the public for downloading the app.
Users of the game will guide two Help for Heroes bear mascots as they hold a stretcher carrying a third bear across an obstacle course.
With the nostalgic military tune The Colonel Bogey March playing in the background, the aim of the app is to collect as many tokens along the route.
The app was launched with a social media Thunderclap.
The application development has been donated to the charity by Appy Nation and Supersonic Software and is available for £1.99. A donation of £1 is made to Help for Heroes from each sale.
