This is a remarkably successful debut CD by the Bristol-based trio with Blomfield on piano, Tosh Wijetunge bass and Mark Whitlam drums. The playing, both individually and collectively is spot on and the compositions, all by the leader, are varied and immediately captivating. With a clearly-recorded and warm sound I think this should appeal to any jazz fan.
