CONTINENTAL are connoisseurs braving the October rain to bring far-flung food flavours to the North-East.

A Continental Food Market will be in Durham Market Place until Sunday (October 13), with food on offer from France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Turkey, the Caribbean and the Far East.

Councillor Pauline Charlton, the Mayor of Durham and chairman of Durham County Council, officially welcomed the traders to Durham during a tour of the stalls today (Thursday, October 10).

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: “We’re always pleased to welcome the Continental Food Market into Durham’s Market Place and will enjoy sampling the wonderful foods and flavours they bring with them.

“With the Continental Food Market in the city centre for four days, visitors will have plenty of chance to come and visit. We look forward to welcoming as many as possible.”

The market will be open from 10am to 5pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday. The city’s regular outdoor market will take place on Saturday.
