HARVEST SERVICE: Whitworth Church will hold a harvest praise service followed by afternoon teas on Sunday, October 6, at 3pm.

FLOWER SHOW: The Wolsingham and District Chrysanthemum and Horticultural Society will hold their late show on Saturday, October 5, at St Anne’s Centre in Wolsingham. Doors open at noon, refreshments will be available and there will be a sale of produce at 4.30pm. Entry is free.

FESTIVAL SERVICE: Windmill Methodist Chapel will hold a harvest festival service led by Reverend Richard Bainbridge at 2.30pm on Sunday, October 20. A concert will be held at the chapel on Monday, October 21, at 7.15pm by the Beltones with a sale of fruit and vegetables taking place afterwards. Refreshments will also be available.

SPEEDING POINTS: Whitney Varey, 25, of St Philips Park in Coundon Grange has been ordered to pay £138 in fines and costs and had four penalty points put on her driving licence after admitting driving at 42mph in a 30mph zone on the A68 at West Auckland. Magistrates in Newton Aycliffe heard her VW Polo was seen by police at 2pm on April 18.

DRIVER APOLOGISES: Dennis Dolphin, 57, of High West Road in Crook has been ordered to pay £338 in fines and costs and had six penalty points put on his licence after admitting driving at 50mph in a 30mph zone on Peases Way in Crook on July 15. In a letter to Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, Dolphin apologised for not checking his speed when driving a Ford Transit.
