AN ELDERLY woman has been airlifted to hospital after collapsing in Whitby. The 81-year-old was unconscious when the Great North Air Ambulance responded to the call for assistance from Yorkshire Ambulance Service, at around noon today (Tuesday, Oct 1). The on-board doctor from the helicopter anaesthetised the woman before flying her for specialist treatment at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where she arrived in a critical condition ten minutes later.
