DANCERS of all generations came together ahead of a national celebration of older people.

The third Older People’s Day will take place on October 1 with a theme of intergenerational skills sharing.

To promote the event next week, Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, hosted a dance for older and younger people in an effort to encourage links between people across the generations.

Darlington has planned a number of activities for Older People’s Day, with venues across the town holding events between 9am and 2.30pm.

Music activities start at 10.30am in the Market Square, which will include a performance from students from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.

Councillor Andy Scott said: “What a great way to encourage people, young and old, to join in with their community while staying fit and healthy and getting out of the house to meet new people and join in with the events.”
