OLDER people in Darlington are invited to make new friends at an event next week.
Age UK’s Friendship Club will host an open day for prospective members on Tuesday, August 20.
The day will be hosted by veteran volunteer George Nicolson, 87. Mr Nicolson set up the group more than 25 years ago and wants to boost its membership.
He said: “We have quite a few members but thought others might like to join us.
“We have fun, we raise funds by playing bingo which helps us to organise trips and special events such as the Christmas party.”
The open day will feature a buffet and the chance to get to know current members.
It will take place from 1.30pm at Age UK Darlington’s Bradbury House on Beaumont Street West.
