A MEMBER of staff at a North-East visitor attraction has died after falling into a castle keep.
Emergency services were called to Warkworth Castle and Hermitage in Warkworth, Northumberland, at around 10am yesterday (Tuesday, July 2) morning when the 50-year-old man fell.
He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment, but police today confirmed he had died.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "The injured man has now died and a report is being prepared for the coroner."
The castle is an English Heritage site.
It is not known at this time what position the man held at Warkworth Castle or what he was doing at the time of his fall.
