A SCHOOL is celebrating after four of its girls found medal success in a competition against teams from across County Durham.
Roseberry Sports and Community College at Pelton, near Chester-le-Street, took part in the Durham County Schools Sports Acrobatics Pairs Competition at the Deerness Gymnastics Centre, in the Deerness Leisure Centre, Ushaw Moor.
Shona Lavery and Lindsey Newton, both 14, won the gold medal and were commended for receiving an exceptionally high mark of 9.1 out of ten.
And Abigail Cooper, 14, and Hannah Coleman, 15, were awarded silver medals in the competition.
A school spokeswoman said the girls were members of the school's thriving gymnastics club and that the school was delighted with their success.
