CAKES FESTIVAL: The sixth Annual Cakes and Puddings Festival will be held at Cowshill Village Hall at 10am on Saturday, June 15. Classes for adults are cakes, puddings and sweet pies and savoury pies while under 16s can enter cakes and puddings and sweet pits. There will also be a best overall entry. CRICKET COACHING: Free cricket coaching for Under 13s of all abilities is held every Friday at Hunwick Cricket Club from 5pm to 6pm.

CLOTHES SALE: A sale of new, nearly new and vintage clothes will be held in the Church Centre behind St Helen Auckland Church from 11am to 3pm tomorrow (May 25). Entry will be free and there will also be refreshments available.

SOLAR QUARRY: Plans have been submitted to Durham County Council to install 48 solar panels in Harehope Quarry in Frosterley to provide power to the manager’s home and a holiday let. The former quarry has become a nature reserve and eco-living project.

FRIENDSHIP COFFEE: The Friendship Coffee Club meets every Thursday at 10.30am at Kelly Ann’s coffee shop on Newgate Street in Bishop Auckland. The club is open to everybody and organiser Pamela Nodding-Scott said it is an excellent way for people to make new friends and socialise while enjoying tea and cake.
