A WOMAN has escaped with minor injuries after what initially appeared to be a serious motorcycle crash during a vintage motorbike rally in the Yorkshire Dales.

The ambulance service, fire brigade and police were called to the incident in Low Row, between Reeth and Gunnerside, near Richmond, at around 12.15pm today. (Sunday, May 19)

The female casualty was pillion passenger on a vintage motorcycle when the bike flipped over and landed on the woman, between Bushes House and Low Whitter Farm in the village.

Paul Richardson, deployment manager for North Yorkshire Police, said: “All three emergency services worked together as it initially seemed that the woman would have serious leg injuries.

“Thankfully, she has just been treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruises.

“We think the bike flipped over because of the conditions of the road – after the rain on Saturday there was a lot of gravel on the roads so it would have been slippery.

“Her and her travel partner were part of a vintage rally and other riders stopped to help."
