CHURCH leaders will discuss the impact of welfare cuts at a summit tomorrow (Tuesday, April 30).
The event, titled Am I My Brother’s Keeper?, will focus on recent benefits changes introduced by the Government.
Organised by the Faith In Our Community group, it will be held in Easington Lane, Wearside, on Tuesday morning.
The guest speaker is Rev Dr Philip Bee, chief officer of the Churches’ Regional Commission for Yorkshire and Humber.
In his recent report, Am I My Brother’s Keeper? – a Christian View of Welfare Reform, Rev Bee argued churches cannot be disinterested bystanders to the changes being made.
