ONE of the new clinical commissioning groups that will run NHS services in the region has been given an excellent rating.
The Darlington CCG took over the NHS budget for the local area from the primary care trust today (April 1) with full authorisation, which meant it demonstrated excellence in each of 119 separate criteria.
The CCG was one of only 10 in the UK to reach the excellent standard.
Dr Andrea Jones, chairman of Darlington CCG said: “We are delighted to receive the excellent news, we are passionate about ensuring that Darlington CCG provides the very best services for people living in Darlington.”
Each of the town’s 11 GP practices are member of the CCG and will be involved in commissioning £133.5m of healthcare.
The CCG has also appointed Martin Phillips as its chief officer and will lead the organisation with Dr Jones Mr Phillips said: “Full authorisation of the CCG recognises the confidence in the excellence of the arrangements in Darlington and the clear demonstration that we have clinicians and managers working together to improve care and services.”
