A MUSEUM celebrating the region’s railway heritage is to host a series of events as part of the Festival of the North-East.
The festival is a month-long celebration of the region’s creativity and innovation, held in May and June.
With more than 200 events - free and ticketed – including concerts, art exhibitions and science projects, it is one of the largest festivals in the UK.
The Darlington Head of Steam Museum, in North Road, has planned a number of events, including an exhibition of photographs from the Cleveland Bridge Collection.
The Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company, a Darlington-based business, was established in 1877 and kept pictures of its many projects undertaken in the North-East, including the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge.
Another exhibition, inspired by the Stockton and Darlington Railway, will be led by artist Yvonne Preston, who plans to create a large artwork using recycled materials with the help of local volunteers.
