A POLICE officer will lead a 250-mile vintage tractor road in memory of his late daughter.
Detective Sergeant Brian Simpson will spend Easter weekend travelling from Helmsley, near Thirsk, to Penrith, in Cumbria, and back to raise money for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, in Middlesbrough.
Grace, who suffered from Down's Syndrome, died in January 2009 aged two-and-a-half, after suffering various illnesses.
Det Sgt Simpson, his cousin Robert Kendall and six other enthusiasts will drive a fleet of classic tractors from Ryedale to Eamont Bridge, near Penrith, on Good Friday, before heading to the Tan Hill pub, near Reeth on Saturday.
The group, which is being supplied with fuel for the trip by the owners of Doves Nest Farm, in Sneaton, near Whitby. will make their way back to Ryedale on Easter Sunday.
Det Sgt Simpson, who works at the North Yorkshire Police headquarters in Newby Wiske, near Northallerton, urged anyone wishing to donate to visit justgiving.com/Bri-Simpson12
