LOVERS of real ale are in for a treat next month when they will be able to sample 36 different brews.

The Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton, the Cleveland Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and Guisborough & District Round Table, have organised the second beer festival to be held in Guisborough on Friday, April 5 and Saturday 6.

Beers are coming from several local breweries and there will be others from further afield, with a particular emphasis on those from Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

For those not into beer, there are real ciders, perry and a range of fruit wines during the festival in the Parish Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough, which takes place from 11am to 4pm and 6pm to 11pm on each day.

Paul Whitefoot, chairman of the organising committee, said, “Our first beer festival held last year was a huge success. It proved to be a great social event that raised over £4,000 for charity.”

Ticket prices are £3 for the lunchtime sessions, £4.50 for Friday evening and £5 for Saturday evening. The ticket price includes a programme describing the beers and a free commemorative glass. Card-carrying CAMRA members receive a £1 discount, payable on entry.

Tickets can be purchased in person from Greensleeves Music in Chaloner Street, Guisborough or by sending an S.A.E. and cheque made payable to "Guisborough Beer Festival" to "Melandra”, Belmangate, Guisborough, North Yorks. TS14 7BD.
