A TEN-year-old boy had to be airlifted to hospital following a playground accident.
The Great North Air Ambulance this morning (Wednesday, March 13) landed in the grounds of Brompton-on-Swale CE Primary School, near Richmond, after the pupil was knocked unconscious.
He had been playing and fell over and another child fell on top of him.
Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene and called on the air ambulance to airlift the child to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
A spokesman for the school said the boy looked to have largely recovered by the afternoon.
“He’s fine now," said the spokesman. "He has recovered and he’s apparently sitting up in bed, chatting and smiling.”
