KENNEL GONE: A dog kennel has gone walkies from a house in Barnard Castle. Police say thieves took the kennel from a property in Low Startforth Road, Barnard Castle, sometime overnight between February 20 and 21. Anyone with information should contact Barnard Castle Police on 101.
CASH BOOST: Barnard Castle Town Council has agreed to give £100 to the Great North Air Ambulance. In the past five years, the council has given grants totalling £1,900 towards the running costs of the service.
PUB PLAN: Proposals have been submitted to Durham County Council to convert The Black Swan, in Front Street, Staindrop, into five self-contained two and three bedroom cottages. The owners say it has proved impossible to turn around the fortunes of the loss-making pub.
NEW WEBSITE: Darlington design company The Unknown Creative has been chosen to develop a new website for The Witham Hall, which is currently undergoing a £3.2m rebovation. It is hoped the new look www.thewitham.org.uk will be up and running by the spring.
