A 76-year-old man who went missing has been found "fit and well", police said this evening.

An appeal was made to help find dementia sufferer Jimmy Annan, of the Gloucester Road area of Consett, County Durham.

It was feared that he may have caught a bus from Consett bus station to Newcastle shortly before 1.30pm today (Tuesday, February 19).

A spokesman for Durham Police said that Mr Annan, who is originally from Newcastle, was found "fit and well" and thanked everyone for their assistance.
