TWO Army careers information offices will close next month to focus on recuiting through the internet.

The Army says it is reducing its presence on the high street after receiving an increasing number of enquiries from potential soldiers using smart phones and computer.

The offices in Northgate, Darlington and Segrave Road, Catterick Garrison will shut on Friday, February 15.

An Army spokeswoman said there would be no redundancies as recruitment staff would be reassigned.

Lieutenant Colonel Howard Newson said: "The Army is still recruiting in Darlington and Catterick and there are jobs available now.

“I would encourage anyone interested in knowing more to visit our website army.mod.uk or our careers offices in Middlesbrough which will remain open.”
