SUNDERLAND AFC’s forthcoming Barclays Premier League game against Arsenal has been designated as Foundation Day in recognition of the club’s registered charity.

The match at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, February 9, will raise awareness of and funds for the Foundation of Light, which worked with more than 40,000 children and adults last year.

Sunderland AFC’s players will warm up in special Foundation of Light t-shirts before to the game at 3pm - and Martin O’Neill’s side will take to the field in one-off match shirts bearing the Foundation’s logo, which will then be individually signed and auctioned off after the game in aid of the charity.

A range of activities will take place throughout the day, both outside the stadium prior to kick-off and at half time on the pitch.

There will also be opportunities for fans to win some prizes as well as learn more about the work of charity.

Established 11 years ago by former Sunderland AFC chairman Sir Bob Murray, the Foundation of Light is one of the biggest and most developed football foundations in the world.
