POLICE are investigating a vandal attack on lorries parked at a truck stop.
At 6.13am on Wednesday, January 16, police received reports that seven vehicles - all HGVs - had been damaged at the Granada Services on the A1 near Birtley.
The curtain sides of the vehicles had been cut but nothing was stolen.
It is believed to have happened overnight between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Hamilton said: "This is completely mindless damage and we're carrying out enquiries into it in an effort to trace the person or people responsible.
"I'd urge anyone with information to get in touch with us. I'd also urge people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity they see in the area to police at the earliest opportunity."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, extension 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
