A FESTIVE resident has been rewarded as the winner of the Ferryhill Christmas lights competition.

Robert Arrand, of Dean Park, won the competition. Tracey Etherington, of Dean Road, was second and Steven Devan, of Grasmere, was third.

The winners were given a certificate by Councillor Amy Rimmington, the mayor of Ferryhill, at a special ceremony.

The judging was done by members of the Ferryhill 2000 Committee during December. The prizes were given out last week.

Coun Rimmington said: “It’s always good to see nice Christmas displays and the Christmas lights judges where once again impressed by what we saw around Ferryhill.

“The difficult task is again choosing the winners and although this year’s winner was outstanding there was very little difference between first and second places.”
