Telephone cable stolen from farmland at Teesdale hamlet of Langton
11:34am Monday 14th January 2013 in News By Stuart Laundy, Reporter (Barnard Castle & Teesdale)
TRESPASSERS are being hunted after 60 metres of telephone cable was stolen from farmland in the Teesdale hamlet of Langton, between Gainford and Ingleton, County Durham.
The theft was reported on Friday, January 11.
Police say the incident appears to have been an opportunist theft as the cable had been laid out on the ground ready to be dug in.
It is not being linked to the recent theft of underground cable from Cockfield, Teesdale, when residents were left without their broadband and phone service.
Anyone with information or who saw any suspicious activity in Langton on Friday should contact Barnard Castle police on 101.
