A VOLUNTEER who worked tirelessly on a project to help people grow their own food has clinched a major award.
Terry Pritchard has won the One Planet Living community award for individual volunteer of the year.
He enrolled on the Big Dig project in Middlesbrough in July, which aims to get people to grow their own food.
He has devoted many hours to helping develop several community allotment sites across Middlesbrough, run by Middlesbrough Environment City.
Mark Quinn, Big Dig Co-ordinator, said: “Volunteering with the Big Dig project has helped Terry to meet people and develop his new keen interest in gardening.
“Helping plan the development of the sites has truly lifted his spirits and raised his self-esteem.”
The annual awards are a celebration of the many individuals, groups and organisations that work on projects that address the One Planet Living principles. For more information visit www.oneplanetliving.net.
