Man charged with theft of MP's car

A MAN has been remanded in custody after he was charged with stealing a car belonging to Redcar MP Ian Swales.
The car, a VW Golf worth £5,500 was taken from the town's Station Road on November 11.
James Trevor Lawrence, 32, of High Street, Loftus, appeared before Northallerton and Richmond Magistrates charged with the theft.
He also faces four further charges of stealing tools from Cocked Hat Park at Sowerby, electrical goods worth £3,000 from a house in Little Crakehall, Bedale and a sat nav and number plates from Bedale.
He is due to appear at the magistrates court again on January 3.
