A VAN driver who died after a collision outside a business park has been named by police investigating the accident.
Robert Chilcott was at the wheel of a Renault Trafic Van which struck a parked car near The Watermark, in Dunston Hill, Gateshead, at lunchtime, on Tuesday (December 12).
Mr Chilcott, 57, of South Wootton, near King’s Lynn, Norfolk, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, where he was pronounced dead.
Northumbria Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident, at 12.55pm, and any witnesses are asked to contact the force’s road safety unit, via the 101 non-emergency number, extension 69191.
A force spokesperson said that the accident is not believed to have been related to the icy weather which has hit the region this week.
