POLICE investigating the theft of a Poppy Appeal collection tin from a North-East museum have released CCTV footage of the crime.
The 22-second video appears to show a man entering the cafe at the Durham Light Infantry (DLI) museum, in Aykley Heads, Durham City, and taking the tin from a counter top.
The burglary took place at about 11.15pm on Thursday, November 8 – days before Remembrance Day.
Police have renewed their appeal for information on the incident.
The man was wearing a baseball jacket with a blue body and white sleeves, with a grey hood from another top underneath pulled over his head, black trousers, black trainers or shoes and gloves.
PC Leanne Howe said: “We are very keen to trace the offender as this took place just before Remembrance Day, making it an especially heartless crime.”
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Howe or PC Chris Milburn at Durham City priority crime team on 101, extension 668-2846, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
