MEMBERS of a Prince’s Trust team today (Thursday November 8) cycled 15 miles to raise cash for an animal rescue centre.

Several young people, as well team leaders, from the programme being run in Stanley cycled from the town to the Roker Pier in Sunderland.

The team have chosen to help RSPCA Felledge, near Chester-le-Street.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme gives unemployed young people the opportunity to take part in a 12-week Prince’s Trust course to learn new skills and improve their confidence and motivation.

Three in four young people on Prince’s Trust schemes move into work, education or training.

Jade Surrey, who did the bike ride and has taken part in the course, said: “By doing the course I have gained so much and I have built up on my confidence, team skills and leadership skills.

“The course has kept me busy whilst looking for a job, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself.”
