What was your first car?

The first car I bought was a Mk 2 Ford Escort saloon in red which cost me £600. That was my life savings when aged 17. Me and mates were obsessed with rally cars like the Escort RS 2000, Harrier and Mexico.

How many times did it take to pass your test?

I passed my test first time after 15 lessons in a white Ford Fiesta thanks to Bill, my scary instructor who would make me pull over and if I didn't know what the last road sign we passed was I would have to walk back and look at it. I soon learnt to look at every sign.

Who would be your fantasy passenger and where would you go?

The Northern Echo: Sir Michael Caine at Leatherhead Theatre

My ideal passenger would be Sir Michael Caine. I'd drive us down to the French Riviera to Cap Ferret, while asking him about the iconic films he's appeared in, stopping for a gin and tonic en route.

What is your dream car?

My dream car would have to be a classic Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible in black with a cream hood.

My driving style would be best described as careful but progressive.

Tell me one anecdote from your driving past?

I broke down on the side of the road when I was on EastEnders as a mechanic in the show waiting for the AA to turn up at rush hour. I've never seen so many people take photos while laughing and shouting very colourful comments.

What are you listening to?

I'm playing all my CDs one last time before I stash them in loft or gift them to charity.

What are you driving?

I have access to a Mitsubishi Shogun, a Ford Focus estate, an Audi A3 cabriolet, a mini digger and a dumper truck. As my girlfriend has a smallholding, most are utility vehicles and the Audi’s for those rare sunny days.
