FOREIGN Secretary William Hague has come up with the answer to Britain’s economic woes: “stop moaning and work harder”.

To back up this statement and get the ball rolling the Government will lead by example. This summer civil servants in 17 Government departments are having a 50-day vacation under the pretence of working from home to ease congestion during the Olympic games.

Not to be outdone, MPs are set to enjoy a 17-day Whitsun break in June extended by the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

But they will have to hurry back because on July 13 they are on holiday again, the earliest closure of Parliament in 30 years.

The only running this country will witness this summer will be on the Olympic track.
