WE recently saw actress Joanna Lumley being treated as a goddess during a visit to Nepal following her campaigning for Gurkha resettlement rights.

She is also a patron of several animal welfare charities – but something is just not right. It seems strange that someone so well known for animal welfare “work” has never publicly spoken out, to my knowledge, against the proposed overturning of the hunting ban if the Conservatives win the next General Election.

I cannot think of one celebrity who is linked with animal welfare causes who has refused to say publicly how they feel about this. Why would Ms Lumley be different?

Is it because she is a close friend of the Prince of Wales and his second wife, both members of the most bloodsport fanatical family in the UK?

It cannot and should not escape people’s notice that Ms Lumley has urged animal lovers to vote for the Green Party – yet another astute move on her part, as she appears to be saying vote for the ethics of the Green when, in reality, a vote for the Green Party is, in effect, a wasted vote.

Has Ms Lumley been allowing us to watch her greatest performance as an actress yet, where she runs with the fox, but chases with the hounds?
