I KNOW that the FA have rules and regulations, but I get the feeling that dear old Darlington FC are not one of their favourite clubs (Echo Sport, Apr 12).

After all the hard work the manager, Martin Gray, and his players have put in during recent years, the Football Association has now informed the Quakers that they will not be promoted if they achieve promotion this season, due to the lack of seats at their new Blackwell Meadows ground.

I’m not clued up about the exact rules and regulations, but couldn’t the club ask for a favour from Darlington Mowden Park Rugby Club. Maybe they could return to the Northern Echo Arena next season, to give the club the opportunity to build on Blackwell Meadows while they play elsewhere in the town?

The hard work the players and manager have put in should be rewarded, but once again, I do feel sorry for the Quakers and their loyal supporters.

All the best, DFC, and Lord, please make the FA smile upon the club for once and allow them the chance to develop and return back where they belong, which is in the English Football League.

Christopher Wardell, Darlington
