I READ with interest your article about the death of Colin Dexter, the writer who created the character of Inspector Morse (Echo, Mar 22).
I thought that readers may be interested to hear that, although in the TV stories Morse drove the famous red Jaguar, in the written stories he did not. He drove what Dexter called “his beloved Lancia”.
During my working life as a selfemployed technical sales agent, doing 30,000-plus miles per year, I also treasured my Lancias.
Over the years I owned 4 of them and I liked them so much.
Such a pity they appear not to be available now.
