DARLINGTON councillor Nick Wallis states “there was a compelling argument to approve the (Crown Street) library plans”.
Equally the people in opposition, and there are legions of us, have compelling arguments not to proceed.
Our views have been expressed thanks to The Northern Echo.
It is not truly appreciated that we have this open channel of comment.
Can we now ask Cllr Wallis to give us the benefit of his compelling reasons in writing?
He is not allowed to invoke the “cuts”. These have been used ad nauseum.
Indeed, the Labour cabinet seems to get a masochistic pleasure in the way the cuts are applied. This is done to serve another warped ideology.
Also he cannot cite the need to save money.
The Labour cabinet, like magicians, can find money to support its vanity projects, the latest being a stroll along the banks of the Skerne.
By the way, this, ultimately will be extended to the far end of Valley Street. Come on Cllr Wallis, let us have it.
Philip Cheesbrough, Darlington
