A FEW weeks ago I wrote to the Hear All Sides saying amongst other things, that if a famous artist eg. Van Gogh drew a straight line on a blank sheet of paper, it would be regarded by experts as a masterpiece and sell for millions.

In Saturday’s Northern Echo, on page 12, we have a drawing (if that’s what you can call it) called Untitled by Jean-Michel Basquiat which is expected to sell at auction for at least £1.5m.

This monstrosity looks even worse than a straight line and what you would probably expect (with respect) that a child would draw at a nursery.

How anyone in their right mind would pay £1.5m for this is beyond me; to use an old cliche, they must have more money than sense.

I can think of one good use I could put it to. Other readers would probably do the same with it.
