IN his recent letter J Mofffat (HAS, Feb 7) asks if the Labour Party will be organising protest marches against those countries which ban people from Israel?

Perhaps those opposing these bans should ask themselves about the atrocities Israel committed against the Palestinians to deserve such a ban?

People should ask why US President Donald Trump’s ban excludes Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates? Countries which have not only produced terrorists who’ve killed thousands of Americans, but countries with which Mr Trump has business interests in.

People should ask themselves why spokespeople for Mr Trump claim that Iran attacked an American warship and Muslims massacred people in Bowling Green – incidents which never happened, but are deliberate lies to justify the immigrant ban and sowing the seeds for a future war with Iran.

In the US you’re more likely to be killed by someone with a mental illness or a far-right extremist than by an Islamic terrorist.

If Mr Trump’s actions are about protecting the American public, why have far-right extremist groups been removed from the terror watch list and why has he supported laws allowing the mentally ill to buy and own guns?
