LIKE most people who inhabit property, either private or rented, we pay vast amounts of money to councils in a contract to collect and dispose of the debris that accumulates in our day-to-day lives.

I am fed up with the way we are hectored, threatened and even fined for not complying with some directive or other.

Apart from actually emptying the bins and driving the truck, we are expected to do everything else.

Surely before any of this was signed up to and brought in, efficient sorting means should have been in place.

How is the normal street waste sorted? Or does no one bother?

Some countries can have an everyday collection, we struggle, and in most cases fail, to manage once a fortnight.
